My son loves the xbox360 and Wii and although these are great for eye/hand coordination I would must rather him play games that also allow him to learn from them. With that being said, we recently had the opportunity to review the V. Smile Motion from V-Tech.
The system comes with a little sports game that reminds me of the Wii Sports but is targeted towards children and has learning in mind. Besides this game, I purchased him Wall-E and he absolutely loves it! The console is perfect for him as he is right at the starting age for it and can grow with it over the next few years.
The V. Smile Motion is a educational video gaming system for pre-schoolers & kids that is recommended for ages 3-7 . It combines wireless, motion-activated play, web connectivity and educational gaming into a system that plugs directly into your television! It is really easy to use and simply hooks up to the TV through the normal red, white and yellow jacks. V. Smile Motion comes with an Action Mania Learning Game, which includes sports base
d activities such as tennis and car racing . The graphics in these are surprisingly very well cone and the educational benefits are spread across a broad range of areas, from lessons in math, reading, science, spelling and more.
The special movement detecting wireless controller allows motion-activated play, encouraging children to get up and be active as they learn and interact with their favorite characters. Altough they do have the option to use it as they would a regular video game controller. The only problem my son had at first was he is used to the smaller joysticks on the xbox360 and this joy stick is huge. It makes sense that it is bigger since it is made for little hands. After awhile though he did get used to the oversized joystick and does just fine with it.

The V-Motion Learning System also includes V.Link. The V.Link is the easy way for kids to track their progress on V.Smile Cyber Pocket, V.Smile PC Pal, and V-Motion. Just plug V.Link in the specified V.Smile Game Console and it automatically tracks kids progress and scores. Plug the V.Link into a PC’s USB port and it auto connects to a secure site where kids can see how they rank against all V.Smile players.
