VeritasBible.com Bible Curriculum

Finding a Bible curriculum that both of my boys can use has been a struggle at times. It seems just when I think I’ve found the perfect program, it ends up that something about it just isn’t clicking with one of the boys. Sometimes it’s as simple as the curriculum being too hard/easy, or there are times to where the curriculum is just boring. Yes, I said boring.VeritasBible.com

We admittedly had been in a rut when it came to Bible study for some time now. We have been flip-flopping between different programs, trying to find a good fit for us. Talk about excited when were picked to review VeritasBible.com from Veritas Press.   My boys have been using this program for about a month now and I have to say that this program is fantastic!  It’s such a wonderful homeschool Bible curriculum that includes access to three courses for multiple people!  This means that my boys can move at different paces which is perfect since there is over a three year age gap between them.Veritas Bible advertising_zpsdc4vkefb

What is VeritasBible.com

VeristasBible.com is a more relaxed version of the online Self-Paced Bible program offered by Veritas Press. This program allows for multiple users and each student can work at their own pace. The program allows members to access three major courses:
» Genesis to Joshua
» The Gospels
» Judges to Kings

What We Received:

We received a one-year family membership for VeritasBible.com which allows you to add each child in the family. Having the ability to do this means that they can work at their own pace. You’re student will have a total of 128 lessons that will last for an entire year.Veritas Bible sample_zps8ktn1hod

While we probably should have started with Genesis to Joshua, my boys both opted to start with The Gospels. It’s always been one of their favorites to learn about and they have really enjoyed. Each course is set up with progressive maps that we travel along as we complete each lesson. Based on how well you do with a particular section, you can receive 1-3 stars.

Navigating the Program

Overall the program is pretty simple to navigate and it saves your progress every time you close out, even if they didn’t finish the lesson they were on. Upon opening it back, it always asks if they would like to continue where they left off. The live-action videos are one of the main things that boys looked forward to. While we initially started this program with them each having their own account, over time they simply started watching the video together and we would do the questions as a family. While my five-year-old knows a lot about the Bible for his young age, the questions were a little too advanced for him and he would get frustrated (he’s a perfectionist and hates getting answers incorrect). I want learning the Bible to be fun, not frustrating, so that’s why we opted to do just one user as a family. That way both boys could help each other with the answers, and I was also there to help guide them.

Another thing I want to mention is that through the course the kids are asked to reference their flash cards. Just a heads up that the flashcards aren’t included in the subscription, but can be purchased separately. It isn’t mandatory to own them, but I still wanted to mention this. This was our first time using Veritas Press, so we weren’t familiar with the entire program before beginning. We may end up purchasing the flashcards later, but as of right we haven’t seen a need.

Overall thoughts:

This is really a great program. My boys have enjoyed watching the videos and answering the questions together at the end. Basically, there were only two things we didn’t love about this program.

1. It does have it’s fair share of technical trouble. It would tend to pause and buffer through videos and loading some of the activities. This would cause my boys to lose interest in the lesson. Not sure why that is since they stream videos daily in our house with no problems.

2. The boys prefer using their tablet when we have an online course since the speakers on my laptop aren’t great. Basically, it’s hard to hear on my laptop without headphones. It may be that we have a Galaxy tablet instead of an iPad, but we had a hard time getting it to stay screen size.

Other than these two small issues, my boys seemed to really enjoy this program and I love how it makes learning the Bible fun. They look forward to using this program daily and we highly recommend it.

If you are looking for an online program for grades 2nd-6th, you may want to out VeritasBible.com. It’s a great way for children to study the Bible at their own pace, or to even use as a family setting (like we did). Not sure if it’s a fit for your family? Be sure to check out their FREE TRIAL.
