I am a HUGE fan of the Hallmark Channel and the television show, “When Calls the Heart”. It has felt like forever since Season One came to a close, and finally Season 2 is getting ready to kick off on April 25!!! You could say that I’m a tad bit excited!
While I have been anxiously waiting for the new season to begin, I was chosen among a group of bloggers to get a sneak peak of the upcoming season premiere. Now I can’t giveaway any secrets, but I can tell you a little about it..Picking up from Season 1, Jack accompanies Elizabeth in her travels to visit her mother, who has fallen ill. While there, she is reunited with an old friend. During this time, Abigail and the other widows are preparing for the trail regarding the coal mine explosion. They have brought back the same characters that we all know and love, plus a couple of new ones.
About When Calls the Heart:
For those of you that aren’t familiar with the series, it’s actually inspired by Janette Oke’s bestselling book series about the Canadian West. “When Calls the Heart” tells the captivating story of Elizabeth Thatcher, a young teacher accustomed to her high society life, who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coal-mining town where life is simple, but like most small towns it does have challenges. Lori Loughlin plays Abigail Stanton, a wife and mother whose husband, the foreman of the mine, along with a dozen other miners, has just been killed in an explosion.
The newly widowed women find their faith is tested when they must go to work in the minds to keep a roof over their heads. Elizabeth charms most everyone in Coal Valley, except Constable Jack Thornton who believes Thatcher’s wealthy father has doomed the lawman’s career by insisting he be assigned in town to protect the shipping magnate’s daughter. Living in a turn of the century coal town, Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west on her own.
