It’s very important to me as a parent to include some sort of Bible study into our daily routine. Both of my boys listen to the study, but at the end of the one I do for my eight year old, I then simplify it for my four year old so that he can understand it too. On top of their morning Bible study, my boys love to have a Bible story read to them at night before bed. Recently we had the opportunity to check out the beautifully illustrated book, Words to Dream On: Bedtime Bible Stories and Prayers. This book arrived at our door, just as we were wrapping up our previous book of Bible stories.
Words To Dream On is a combination Bible storybook and book of prayers. It is packed full of more than 50 stories from both the Old and New Testaments and the stories are selected for young children with a focus on God’s love, care, protection, trustworthiness and prayer.
Each story includes an engaging title, a Bedtime Blessing (a short summary thought), Words to Dream On (a brief Bible verse), and a Sleepy-Time Prayer (a good-night prayer tied to the theme of the story). This book also includes a short letter to parents to help give us ideas for establishing a good bedtime routine with young children and tips for reading aloud at bedtime.
Both of my boys adore this book and my four year grabs it every evening and opens it to where we left off. He truly looks forward to reading this book. The beautifully illustrations grabs his attention and even after reading, he will still continue to look at every details the pictures have to offer. They both repeat after me for the sleepy-time prayer which I think is great! Every little one needs to learn to pray and these are such wonderful examples that help lead them and teach them about daily prayer.
Words to Dream On: Bedtime Bible Stories and Prayers is available with a SRP of $12.99 and would be a perfect addition to your little one’s Easter basket.
