I think one of the big New Year resolutions I see people posting on blogs or talking about is learning how to make something. This could be learning to crochet, knit, sew or even just finish a craft project they started last year and never finished. I personally love to do paper crafting and I will continue to do that. This year I wanted to learn to crochet. I had dabbled in the past but forgot all the basics.
YouCanMakeThis.com
The site that offers tutorials to show you step by step how to make a project. I choose a scarf tutorial for my first project. Not only did it offer pictures to show you how to work the yarn, it had helpful tips as well. I found the directions easy to follow along and in about 4 hours I had my first scarf!

learning the basics |
I did a few basic ‘relearning’ stitches before starting my scarf to just get a feel for the yarn and how to do them. That was one of the really nice things about this tutorial. It took you through the basics then onto a project that an amateur could complete. This tutorial was for a skinny scarf as you can see on my bear. It didn’t come out perfect but it was so much fun to make and looks great! The tutorial was a stepping ground because I was able to take the suggestions and make another (just a little bit thicker) and come up with another scarf:
I think it turned out beautifully! I want to encourage you to visit YouCanMakeThis.com they have a variety of tutorials ranging from easy to harder levels. Not just needlework either they have loads of projects for many different craft skills. There is even a new section for Valentine’s Day!
