Valentine’s Day Painting For Kids

As you know, this week we have had a little fun sharing some of our favorite Valentine’s that I have created for the boys.  They spent a good amount of time going through the cards and bookmarks deciding who was going to receive what card.  Valentine 3
Originally I planned on this little task taking about twenty minutes, but it ended up taking a good two hours.  Amazing how printed Valentine cards ending up taking just as long as the year we created this awesome little Valentine’s.

After all the cards have were finally decided on and addressed, we decided to include a little Valentine’s Day craft for the week.  We found this neat idea on Pinterest from Momista Beginnings and loved it so much, we decided to recreate our own version of it.

We used 11 x 14 canvas size. To start the project, I decided to make a template for us.  I felt that would be easier than me trying to do the letters  by hand.  Plus with our schedules, I just simply didn’t have the time.  Here’s the template I used.  The letters are in color, but I just used my black and white printer to print them out on card stock. After I cut out the letters and taped them onto the canvas in place, it was time for the painting fun to begin!

My youngest started out using his fingers, which was the plan from the start, but half-way through, he decided to use the sponges.  It’s amazing to me how they can go outdoors and get dirty from head-to-toe, but they don’t want paint on their hands. My oldest used the sponges the entire time on project.

The entire time they were painting, they were itching to take the letters off to see how it looked.  I’m pretty sure that was the most exciting part of the project for them.  It makes sense though…who doesn’t enjoy seeing the finished project.Valentine8
That’s it. The paintings turned out perfect!! They are going to make beautiful Valentine’s Day gifts for someone special!!
I would love to see pictures if anyone decides to give this a try!!  Share them on here or tag us on your social networks.Easy Valentine Finger Painting For Kids
