Summer is winding down and before long, we’ll be back to hitting the books. It seems like we are always on the go. Since today, August 6, is National Root Beer Float Day, we decided to slow down and enjoy one of our favorite summertime treats…Root Beer Floats!
Root Beer Float Day
A&W Root Beer has a long history of creating family memories. Some of my fondest memories are sitting on the front porch during the summer months, sipping on a homemade root beer floats with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We would all gather to spend time together and share our days. After we finished enjoying our root beer float, all us kids would run around the yard catching lightning bugs! These memories are irreplaceable and I love making special memories like this with my own kids.
Making an A&W Root Beer Float
I’m a sucker for the original root beer float, but there are so many fun variations out there. You can check out a few of those by visiting www.rootbeer.com. They have a brownie root beer float, s’mores and more!
To make the original version, take 1-2 scoops of vanilla ice cream and place them straight into the mug.
Next, open the chilled A&W Root Beer. Slightly tilt the mug, and slowly pour in the root beer, making sure to fill it to the top.
Add a cute straw and fun toppings and you’re done!
We love adding these as a special treat while sitting under the pergola sharing about our day. Time goes by way too fast. Creating lasting memories with our kids is the best!
