Our Week In Review….

So what has our family been up this week? Well let’s see…..

HOMESCHOOL….

As most of you know we have already started back. We take a little while off while the weather is cool and the boys can enjoy the entire day outdoors. However, once the Southern humidity kicks in the all day outdoors ends. That’s when school kicks in. They enjoy early more outdoors and evenings outdoors, but mid-day is school day.11798080_10207632972801542_561281027_nFREE BLUEBERRIES FOR SAL PRINTABLES HERE

With Luke this week, we did a Blueberries For Sal unit along with his regular school days.  He has always been fond of this book, so I decided to work it into our schedule.  Along with reading the book and picking blueberries, we did awesome printables from Embark on the Journey. With her Blueberry for Sal pack, I printed them off and laminated them so we can use them next year along with additional material as he gets older.  We also made Blueberry Zucchini Bread, Blueberry Pancakes, made a Blueberry “pie” craft and tons more!

WHAT WE’RE READING THIS WEEK….
Lemony Snicket: A Series of Unfortunate Events No. 1The Bad Beginning or, Ophans!
91-AQ+81-aL
Are you made fainthearted by death? Does fire unnerve you? Is a villain something that might crop up in future nightmares of yours? Are you thrilled by nefarious plots? Is cold porridge upsetting to you? Vicious threats? Hooks? Uncomfortable clothing?

It is likely that your answers will reveal A Series of Unfortunate Events to be ill-suited for your personal use. A librarian, bookseller, or acquaintance should be able to suggest books more appropriate for your fragile temperament. But to the rarest of readers we say, “Proceed, but cautiously.”

Charlotte’s Web

Some Pig. Humble. Radiant. These are the words in Charlotte’s Web, high up in Zuckerman’s barn. Charlotte’s spiderweb tells of her feelings for a little pig named Wilbur, who simply wants a friend. They also express the love of a girl named Fern, who saved Wilbur’s life when he was born the runt of his litter.

Glory Days

New York Times bestselling author Max Lucado invites readers to leave the wilderness and discover a life defined by grace, refined by challenge, and aligned with a heavenly call. By studying the life of Joshua and the biblical book that bears his name, Lucado reveals God’s promises for every step and reminds readers that God still fights for them.

OTHER ACTIVITIES….

I admit that I am TERRIBLE when it comes to getting their hair cut. I seriously get so busy that I completely forget to call and schedule it until one of them (usually my eight year old), mentions that he is ready for a hair cut.  Most people think that our four year old never gets his hair cut, but I promise he does. They are such opposites. My eight year old likes his hair cut super short and my four year old has never had short hair. Apparently he is starting to trust the one that cuts his hair because he actually fell asleep in the chair that day.

I didn't know he was asleep until she asked me to come hold up his head.

It was HAIR CUTS FOR EVERYONE! that day…even my daughters little dog got his hair cut.

We also had to shuck and put up about 300 ears of corn.  The boys were such big helps during this process.  Our eight year old helped pick and shuck, but the four year old just helped shuck. They say it’s fun…I say that eventually they will disagree 🙂IMG_9461

To end our week, we headed off to Asheville to enjoy the Color Run.  It’s something we do every year and the entire family enjoys it.  Our four year old insisted he was running this year and there was no talking him out of it. He did great the first mile, but after that really started slowing down.  At about 1.5 miles in, he ended up on my back and I carried him the rest of the way. Everyone had fun in the end and the kiddos are already looking forward to next year.
