The Jim Henson Company will be celebrating 60 years of entertainment excellence on September 24! Can you believe they have been creating innovative entertainment that has impacted the lives of what is now four generations of fans? I find that to be pretty impressive in today’s world!
Who is Jim Henson?
Jim Henson was a genius puppeteer, artist, inventor, screenwriter, actor, film director, and producer, and brought the world such indelible characters as Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Gonzo, Rowlf the Dog, Bunsen and Beaker and others, collectively known as The Muppets. He also created the Sesame Street Muppets like Ernie & Bert, Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Grover. In addition to creating The Muppet Show and the first three Muppet feature films, Jim also conceived the awe-inspiring fantasy film The Dark Crystal; the stunning visual-effects laden live-action feature Labyrinth; the perennial favorite, Fraggle Rock; and numerous other beloved titles like Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas and The Storyteller.
I’m sure a lot of you remember these classic titles from your childhood, but you may not realize that The Jim Henson Company continues to create favorite childhood friends with some of the most popular acclaimed children’s programming titles available! But when Spike’s spray turns from super sticky to super slippery, Professor Gimbal slips and falls—and gets stuck in the playground equipment!
